My Ship Has Sails continues the story of Margie Mack’s life that began in Through the Woods. Now living in Chicago with a mother and a loving stepfather she hardly knows, Margie makes the sometimes difficult transition from country to city girl.

Set against the ambitious times of the 1960s, My Ship Has Sails recounts Margie’s journey from childhood through adolescence living in Chicago. There she traverses the waves of youth, discovers boys, gets caught up in the British Invasion, and struggles as one of the few children of divorce in her new school, and, like all America, reels from the shock and sadness from the loss of their beloved president, John F. Kennedy.

Through it all, her stepfather Marty is there—a supportive, loving presence who fills the void left when she moves away from her grandmother Cleo. When Margie’s biological father reenters her life, it’s Marty who helps her deal with the harrowing emotions she experiences, guiding her towards forgiveness and understanding.

Filled with life, laughter, and the bittersweet challenges of adolescence, My Ship Has Sails chronicles a new and exciting period in Margie Mack’s life, as a young girl who takes her first bold steps towards adulthood.

My Ship has Sails eBook Margie Mack

This is the second book I have read by this author. I have enjoyed both books completely. I found myself lost in thought and memories at times during the book-put it down, then realized I was smiling. Oh there were a few times I became teary eyed too. This is an honest good feel read about a time of change and growth in the fascinating life of a young girl. The way Margie shares the happenings make you feel like you are right along with her. I would definitely recommend this book for anyone looking for a good read. It is not long, you don't get caught up in any boring parts. It leaves you wanting to read the next book she promises to publish! One thing I have to say to the Author~~Margie Mack , "I get a Kick out of you kid!"

My Ship has Sails eBook Margie Mack Reviews

Margie Mack continues her tales from her life, dealing with a move from the home she knew and the grandparents who raised her, and venturing into city life, and the uncertainty of adolescence and teenage years. The music she was able to experience, the spiritual exploration, and the effect of losing a beloved president, bring her to a better understanding of what is important in her life.
After readying "Through the Woods" I really cared what happened to Margie and couldn't wait to read "My Ship Has Sails". I think the author has truly captured the atmosphere of the era. I grew up in the 60's and found myself recalling many of my own memories of the time. Margie's home life was different from mine but the feeling of a young girl growing through all the angst is universal. I could have finished this book in one night but preferred to take my time and savor every moment. These books will be shared with my daughters and hope they will see some of their mom in Margie. Thanks, Margie Mack, for all the memories and a great story that I know YOU lived!
Very good read, I love how Margie writes
Another deeply engagingargie Mack book.
Cant wait for her next book. I love her way of putting things simply and you cant put it down.
Like her first book, Margie has wonderful, personal stories to tell. But what I like best is the voice. I hear the innocence and charm of a teenager as life unfolds before her; a hopeful and positive vision that is uplifting and warm. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
In today's fast pace world, ever present technology, and information overflow, it feels so good to journey into much simpler times. Yes, as the book so colorfully describes, the 1960s were a thrilling era, but reading it today, it feels so peaceful to stand still with growing up Margie. There could be much said about each and every story, but they are all so good, it is hard to come up with best parts. Maybe one highlight I can think of the sense of warmth, hope and peacefulness that will stay with you, after reading My Ship has Sails.
Another great story collection. Uplifting, real life stories of a young girl growing up and dealing with the ups and downs that meet her on the road of life. I very much enjoyed all the stories in this book as well as Margie's first book, Through the Woods. Wonderful relaxing reading. You won't regret spending time with these stories.
